Bill 23: Requiem for Bay of Quinte’s Wetlands

On Saturday, December 10, Bay of Quinte Greens hosted a Requiem for Quinte Wetlands, to mourn wetland protection removed by the Build More Homes Faster Act (Bill 23), which received royal assent on November 28, 2022.
The Requiem will took the form of a candlelight procession, starting at Belleville’s Market Squareand progressed to City Hall and on to the Belleville Footbridge.
The Requiem drew attention to the loss of protection for all but one of Quinte Region’s Provincially Significant Wetlands, enabling developers to target them for housing and industrial development.
