The economy is not broken – our picture of it is
February 25, 2026
The subject of the talk is economics but more deeply about how things change.
Why do crises keep surprising us, even though they seem to happen again and
again? Our speaker, Ty Keynes, uses system dynamics to show that instability is
built into the structure of our economy and that understanding this changes how
we think about government, money, climate risk, and inequality.
Our Speaker:
Ty Keynes is an economist and system dynamics researcher whose work brings
engineering-style dynamic modeling into economics. His research challenges
equilibrium-based thinking and focuses on how feedback, debt, and policy shape
real-world economics.
